The active protective mesh is to use various flexible meshes (usually steel wire mesh) to cover the slope or rock those are needed to be protected so as to prevent the weathered flaking, damage and collapse of unstable rock, or to control the falling rock within the certain space (fence effect).
The flexible metal mesh is fixed by wire rope anchor or steel bar anchor and support rope to cover the slope with the potential of geological disaster so as to form a kind of protective mesh reinforcing the slope or restricting the movement range of falling stone.
There are 3 kinds of active protective meshes, namely, wire mesh, wire grille and high-strength wire grille. The wire mesh and wire grille are fixed by wire anchor and support rope; the high-strength wire grille is fixed by steel bar (pre-stress available), wire anchor (in case of support rope used at the edges) and anchor plate; if necessary, the support rope shall be used. The flexible mesh can cover the slope with potential of geological disasters so as to protect it. There are 4 models according to its protective function, protective capability, feature and structure.
Its flexible feature can uniformly transmit the partial load to surroundings so as to make full advantages of entire protective system; therefore, it can afford the large load and the anchoring force of each anchor is lowered. Furthermore, due to the openness of system, the ground water can be freely discharged so that the stability of slope cannot be lowered due to the increasing ground water pressure. In addition to stabilizing slope, it can also mitigate the weathered flaking. It will not damage or modify the original landform and vegetation growth conditions of the slope, which reserves the necessary conditions for later afforestation of slope; the vegetations can freely grow so that reinforcing effect of vegetation root and slope protective system can be integrated to inhibit the slope damage and soil erosion, protect the landform and vegetations so as to achieve the purpose of ideal slope protection and environmental protection.
