What don't we know about India's economy?

Indian economy is vague about certain aspects and places too much emphasis on economic growth. Economy though very important is not the end of the world . The following parameters are essential for all round growth in a democracy . They have a profound impact on the country’s progress

1. Unemployment Level or Index
2. R&D Spend and no of successful world class patents each year
3. Skill assimilation index
4. Below Poverty Line (BPL) as to be defined more precisely and economic data should highlight how many people each year are crossing it and whether there is any trend reversal
5. Efficiency indices in various fields ( For ex agriculture and food wastage, per capita water and energy consumption, public transport, Waste recycling , Sewage treatment etc. benchmarks must be defined and monitored
6. Pollution harms economy in many ways. Separate norms must be laid ( Big metros, Major cities and towns , rural areas etc) and countermeasures for tackling pollution must be put in place
7. Like GOI measures , monitors and makes efforts to improve Ease of doing business (EODB), it must do the same for another important parameter - Ease of Living Safely Index in India ( EOLS) must be measured, monitored and improved upon. What you can not measure, you can not control . How many people can cross the roads safely now ? Are the OK to walk signs installed at all junctions and do they work?Are people drive in wrong side fined for their offence ? Is getting reservation in trains easy ? Can people lodge FIR without problems from Cops? Do the Cops and Babus permit contact with common people easily?

There are many more such initiatives .We want to live in a peaceful ,safe and prosperous India for all citizens and not prosperous India alone
